This poem was written by a good friend and I can relate with how many outfits we try to wear everyday. It's exhausting!!! It also reminded me that despite everything life throws our way, surrendering to our Creator allowed me to shed these outfits and just be. Be who He wanted me to be. Trust the process of how His plans will manifest in my life. When was the last time you allowed yourself to just be?
I step into the dressing room with more outfits than is allowed
Only six it says
I have more than six
Debt
Pain
Envy
Exhaustion
Irritation
Fear
Laziness
Jealousy
Self Absorption
Haughtiness
I step out of the dressing room to display each outfit
To seek praise
And recognition
Comfort
And acceptance
Help
And justification
I step into the reality that I am not fashion forward
Others wear the same outfit better
Others wear it worse
I am not special
I step back into the dressing room
And disrobe
There I am
Just as I was created
Naked
Vulnerable
Helpless
Alone
Scared
Humble
Six outfits we all own
Hiding in our closets
Packed away in boxes
Crumpled in the corner
I step back in time when I was born
Naked
God's image
Parent's hope
So completely treasured
Ready to be clothed
Ready to be cared for and loved
I step into eternity, into one white outfit
Custom designed
A perfect fit
Exclusive
Fashion forward!
